Classical Guitarist for Weddings and Special Events
I have been providing classical guitar music for celebrations for over twenty-five years. Whether it be a wedding ceremony, anniversary, birthday celebration or the remembrance of a loved one, I can provide classical guitar music to suit your special event.
I trained as a classical guitar player at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I studied with the celebrated guitarist John Mills and in masterclasses with a range of world-class players such as John Williams. I have performed with some of the UK’s leading orchestras and choirs in some of Europe’s most celebrated concert halls (eg. Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebau, Opéra Royal inVersailles, Moscow's Zaryadye Hall). And in the UK I have performed in all kinds of concert venues (eg. Glyndebourne Opera House, Salisbury Cathedral, Oxford's Sheldonian Theatre, Cardiff Castle, Lancaster's Williamson’s Memorial Building). To see my current public concert engagements see my Concert Diary page.
Performing at weddings and special events remains one of my favourite places to play. Providing music that creates just the right atmosphere for such highly personalized events is a great way to contribute as a musician.
My repertoire includes wedding favourites, music from the classical guitar tradition as well as arrangements of popular hits and folk melodies.

Will the music be too loud (or too quiet?) For a small gathering of up to 20 people the classical guitar is an ideal volume. For larger groups or for performing background music during a reception dinner for example, some amplification may be needed. Volume levels are easily changed to suit the moment.
Can you play outdoors? Yes, I am very happy to play outdoors (under shade) on fine days during the summer months with access to an electricity supply for amplification. Should the weather be too cold (less than 16C), too windy or wet, I would have to move inside.
Can you personalize the music? Yes, choose from one of my playlists, and request specific tracks. And if you have a particular favourite that isn’t listed I can make an arrangement of the song specially for your event.
Why choose classical guitar? The classical, nylon-string guitar is ideally suited to celebratory events because of its musical versatility: I can play arrangements of well-known songs, classical music or film music all on one instrument; and practical ease: the guitar can be unobtrusively fitted into the tiny corner of a candlelit church or brought to an outdoor pagoda on a late summer afternoon.
How much live music performance will you play? I can play for as little or as long as you wish. Typically I will play a number of items as part of a ceremony or service. I will also often be asked to play background music at a reception. The classical guitar is ideal for the more formal and intimate aspects of the celebration. Typical examples ideally suited to the guitar are: background music as people enter the church/venue; a performance of a piece as part of the ceremony, an item played during a special part of a service (such as the register signing).
